Headteacher's welcome- Kati-Anne Roughley

Welcome to E-Act Blackley Academy!

At E-Act Blackley we believe that our role is to equip children with the life skills that they will need to be successful, both now and in the future. We believe that children deserve the highest standard of education and we work hard to deliver such high standards every day in a safe and secrure environment.

We offer a variety of experiences to our children from working with our artist in residence to sports coaching with Manchester City. We run cookery clubs, craft clubs, coding clubs and many more.

Our aim is that all children will leave the academy at 11 with good SATs results, but most importantly, with a lifelong love of learning. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any more information, we look forward to hearing from you!

Regional Educational Director - Kathy Allen

We opened in 2012 with ambitious plans to raise attainment, improve our Ofsted grading, to attract more pupils and to develop the facilities at Blackley Academy. I am delighted to report positive outcomes in all these areas and in January 2014 we were judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’.

Red Nose Day – Friday 25th March 2017

Next week is Red Nose Day!
To try and raise money for Comic Relief, each class will have their own comedy show. This will allow the children to stand up and share some of the jokes they came up with for homework over half term.
A few of the best ones will be put on here for you to enjoy!

Please check out our new “Art Class Page” which showcases the amazing work the children produce with our artist in residence Adrian Holt. We are so proud of the work the children produce in these sessions.

Safeguarding Information about the Internet

Dear parents,
I am writing to you on the advice of the Police about an app named MUSICAL.LY which I am aware a number of children will have access to. Whilst this app is totally innocent and a creative app for children to use, it does have the facility to connect to other people throughout the world. We have today been advised that a girl of 9 years of age from Salford has been contacted by a man using this app and a process of grooming had started. Fortunately the parents were vigilant in checking the phone and have been able to report the matter to the police. We regularly remind children never to communicate with anyone online that they do not know personally and will be repeating this message again this week.  Could I ask you to also reiterate this advice strongly with your child.

Wood Street Mission’s Easter Update
Our Easter project has now begun. We will be providing families attending the community shop with chocolate eggs for their children. There is no separate referral for the Easter project– as long as a family has had a general referral in the last 12 months they will be able to come in to the community shop and collect Easter eggs. The general referral form can be found on our website –http://www.woodstreetmission.org.uk/Need-help/For-referrers.aspx
