E-ACT Blackley Curriculum
E-Act Blackley Academy’s curriculum will entice children into learning and create a natural flow between all subjects. Our thematic and values based curriculum will:
- Ensure progression and continuity through National Curriculum Knowledge and Skills coverage.
- Provide learning that is driven by child enquiry through children’s questions being used as a key driver
- Develop valued future citizens through the academy values and carefully crafted themes.
The curriculum is designed to develop children that are:
- Empathetic and confident
- Valued local and global citizens
- Independent and collaborative
- Adaptable and aspirational.
Please find below information about the way our curriculum is taught. Parents or other members of the public can find out more about our curriculum by contacting the school.
From September 2014 the new National Curriculum will be taught at E-Act Blackley Academy.
Links are made where possible to the children’s learning in English and Mathematics in order to provide them with meaningful contexts and purposeful opportunities to learn and apply their skills.
Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which helps children to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes which fully prepare them for the next stage of their education and later life in modern Britain. Through our curriculum, children learn about British values such as freedom, tolerance and respect for the rule of the law. We strongly believe that the focus on this in our curriculum helps to develop responsible, thoughtful pupils who have the capacity to make positive contributions to life in Britain now and in the future.
We also value the importance of supporting children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development and ensure that this is a focus in all we do including within our curriculum.
