High school work experience students
Teaching Assistant placements
School Based Training for BA 1,2,3
PGCE First and Final
Early Childhood studies
During December 2016, we participated in the MMU Primary Initial Teacher Education Quality Development Process during which we were reviewed against:
* The quality of school based training programmes
* The quality and consistency of Professional and Class Mentor Training.
* The Accuracy of Assessment against the Teachers Standards.
The out come of the moderation meant that our school has been accredited as a Partnership School. We received a certificate celebrating the fact that we meet all the criteria for a Partnership School for Initial Teaching Education, working in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Here are some of the things that our students say about us:
“All the staff at E-Act were incredibly friendly and approachable and helped me develop as a teacher. I feel lucky to have had my training there.” Sacha Meek BA Final placement, 2016
‘As a PGCE student at Manchester Metropoliton University, I was given the opportunity to complete my final placement at E-Act Blackley Academy. During my three month placement I progressed from a graded ‘Good’ student to an ‘Outstanding’ teacher with the support from my mentor.
‘Due to the progression I had made in such a short time, I accepted the position as a KS2 teacher. In my NQT year I was once again able to develop further. I am currently in my second year of teaching and leading computing. I am continuing to develop myself as a teacher and a leader. E-Act are very much able to provide a platform for this.’
– Michelle Burnett Final PGCE student 2015, then NQT, now an RQT
“E-ACT Blackley Academy are a much valued partner with Manchester Metropolitan University for Initial Teacher Education. They have strong pastoral support within the school and have generously shared effective mentoring practice with other partnership schools” – Geraldine Leydon, MMU Primary Partnership Tutor
“I was very lucky to spend half of my teacher training at E-Act, the support I received from staff was second to none. I absolutely loved my time here and the children & staff alike will always hold a special place in my heart.” -Catherine Flynn 1st Year PGCE student 2017
“Working with the staff at E-Act Academy was an amazing experience. The support I received from both staff AND pupils was uplifting and made my time there feel like a breeze. I have to give particular thanks to Miss Hampson and Miss Keen for making me feel like part of the team. It is a lovely and welcoming school. ” Danielle Willoughby, 1st PGCE placement 2017
We are also a Partner School of the Teach First Programme. This is where participants join a Leadership Development Programme which involves achievement of a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Qualified Teacher Status in year one, and access to a range of training and development across the two years to help them become excellent teachers.
